Our Heritage Work

 

Victoria Design and Management has had a long association with heritage buildings from early renovations of Federation buildings in Sydney to in depth heritage assessment projects for local government and private enterprises. These projects have included assesments of residential, retail, commercial and religous buidings. One of directors is a Conservation Architect and is a specialist in early Australian stone buildings. Heritage Tourism

Development of Heritage Tourism in Cooma-Monaro Shire explored the opportunities offered by promoting heritage places to visitors in the area. The report, commissioned by Cooma-Monaro Shire, found that there was a great variety of interesting sites, trails and activities which were in most cases currently untapped tourism resources. The impact of tourism on heritage sites was thoroughly investigated and recommendations formulated to avert negative impacts. It resulted in a shire wide coordinated approach to management and promotion of heritage tourism and an increased awareness of the value of the community’s heritage. || read more...

 
 

Front Valley Duplex T-Bars

Front Valley Duplex T-Bars built at Perisher in 1963 were recently replaced with more modern ski transport. Being one of the oldest existing uphill ski tows in Australia a heritage report and archival recording was undertaken prior to demolition and removal. Pambula Heritage Study

Pambula Heritage Study was undertaken for Bega Valley Shire Council following community support for protecting and retaining the heritage of the town. The aim of the heritage study was to identify heritage sites and the cultural character of the town, to assist Council with general planning and development applications associated with identified heritage sites and to provide information to owners and groups contemplating conservation works or other developments. || read more...

 
 

Tathra Wharf

Tathra Wharf is included on NSW’s State Heritage Register being the only surviving deep sea wharf and cargo shed, dating from the 19th century, on Australia’s east coast. It has been the subject of a conservation management plan and subsequent conservation works carried out for Bega Valley Shire Council by our company. || read more...

 
 

Wombiana Ski Lodge

Wombiana Ski Lodge designed by renowned architect Peter Muller was amongst the first twenty buildings erected at Thredbo. It is regarded as an excellent example of the ‘free organic style’ which emerged during the 1950s. An assessment of cultural significance was required prior to formulation and lodgment of a development application. || read more...

 
 

Quaama School of Arts

Quaama School of Arts, built in 1902, is an excellent example of south coast architecture. Its diminutive front façade belies the size of the building which is the largest and most intact hall of its type on NSW’s south coast. Boyd’s Tower

Boyd’s Tower 1846, required heritage assessment and a heritage impact statement prior to works being undertaken by NPWS at the historic site. The tower is one of the major relics of Ben Boyd’s short lived foray into developing the whaling industry on NSW’s far south coast. || read more...

 
 

Cooma Railway Station

Cooma Railway Station is considered to be the most intact railway precinct in NSW illustrating 100 years of rail transport from 1888 to 1988. Our company provided a conservation management plan for all buildings and infrastructure. Following the report, major conservation works were carried out by the State Rail Authority of NSW to ensure that the station would survive for another century. || read more...
